Tips on What to Wear for a Job Interview for Men and Women

First impressions are key when you are interviewing for a job. You want to not only impress a potential employer with your education and experience, but you want to look your best as well. Knowing how to dress for a job interview is one of those things that can’t help you very much in the job interview process, but not knowing how to dress can hurt you a lot. Wearing the right clothes should help you feel comfortable while keeping your confidence up so you can focus on your strengths and abilities.

General Tips on What to Wear for a Job Interview for both Men and Women:
  • Conservative is best for the interview regardless of the dress code at the organization.
  • Make sure your clothes are ironed and free of wrinkles and stains.
  • Hair should be well groomed with a professional hair style.
  • Clean & trim your finger nails.
  • Use minimal cologne or perfume.
  • No visible body piercing (nose rings, eyebrow rings, etc.)
  • No gum, candy or cigarettes.
  • Carry all your certificates and documents in a light briefcase or in a file.
